The Center for Myokine Convergence Research was established by being selected for the
‘2023 Leading Research Center in Basic Medical Science(MRC) ’ project by the Ministry of Science
and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The goal of this research center is to develop technology to control disease through integrated
research on myokine, a muscle secretion substance.

To achieve research goals, members participating in this research include Basic science at
korea university college of medicine, excellent researchers at the hospital and Daewoong
Pharmaceutical New Drug Development Center, conduct research connecting basic science
and clinical trials. Based on this, we plan to achieve world-class research results
and promote technology commercialization.

This research topic is expected to not only provide a foundation for scientific understanding
of exercise, but also enable a molecular understanding of the relationship between exercise
and disease, and ultimately provide a biological basis for the development of exercise replacement
technology.

This research center has the ambition to grow into a regional base in Asia and a global top 3
research center in the field of myokine research, which is currently led by Europe
and the United States, by 2030.
